Xiaomi separated the Redmi brand to focus more on the budget line of products, including their smartphones, TVs and other items. The strategy has worked well in a country like India; however, we have only seen Redmi smartphones, fitness bands, earphones until now as the first Redmi Smart TV will make its way on March 17.
Interestingly, Redmi India is promoting its upcoming Smart TV with #XLExperience and teaser focuses on that as well:
This is no surprise as Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain already teased the arrival of Redmi TVs at the grand launch of the Redmi Note 10 series.
Even though it stays dormant in India, Redmi has launched a number of Smart TVs in China including Redmi Smart TV X50, X55, X65, Redmi Smart TV A series and their very recently launched Redmi Max 86 Smart TV.
It will be interesting to which Smart TV the brand brings to India but, Redmi is likely to launch it’s recently launched Redmi Max 86 Smart TV in India as they are promoting the ‘XL experience’.
Dolby India’s tweets also prove the Smart TV will be Dolby certified, and the Redmi Max Smart TV supports both Dolby Vision and Dolby Panorama for display, whereas Dolby Atmos for audio. Most likely, Amazon India will be the platform where you can get the new Redmi Smart TV, confirms the tweet from Redmi India.
The Redmi Max 86 Smart TV comes at a highly competitive price tag of 7,999 yuan (US$1,237) and brings a lot of features to the table. The colour-space coverage (P3) hits 92%, and the 86-inch Redmi Max smart TV is fitted with 2 x 12.5 W speakers and utilizes Dolby Atmos for enhanced audio reproduction.
On its page, Xiaomi has teased various aspects where the new Smart TV gives you the XL Experience and among them, gaming is also present. The features of the Redmi Max 86 Smart TVÂ will win the hearts of many gamers, tempting them to purchase the device as it has an excellent refresh rate, HDMI 2.1, and automatic low latency ideal for those speedy racing games.
The Redmi Max 86 runs on MIUI for TV 3.0 and comes with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A73 processor joined by 2 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. Connectivity options include:
- an Ethernet jack.
- 3x HDMI ports (1x HDMI 2.1)
- 2x USB ports
- 1 x S/PDIF
In India, Xiaomi will surely replace the MIUI for TV 3.0 with their own PatchWall OS and use Google Assistant or Amazon’s Alexa instead of XiaoAI. Well, you won’t have to wait much longer for the Smart TV as the launch date of March 17 is just a few days apart, keep an eye here for more updates!
