Wednesday Season 3: New Codename “Briarcliff” & February 2026 Filming Date Revealed

The wait is almost over! Wednesday Season 3 has officially locked in its production schedule, and Netflix fans are buzzing about the exciting updates. From a clever new codename to confirmed filming locations, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming season.

Wednesday Season 3 Production Details

The “Briarcliff” Connection: A Clever Tribute

The production team chose “Briarcliff” as the working title for Season 3, and it’s more than just a random codename. According to recent production listings, this name pays homage to Briarcliff Manor, New York—home of the Tee & Charles Addams Foundation, which manages the legacy of Charles Addams, the original creator of The Addams Family.

This thoughtful nod demonstrates showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar’s commitment to honoring the franchise’s roots while bringing fresh storytelling to Nevermore Academy.

Production Timeline and Irish Filming

After relocating from Romania to Ireland for Season 2, Wednesday continues its production at the stunning Powerscourt Estate and surrounding Irish locations. The emerald landscapes provide the perfect gothic atmosphere that makes the series so visually captivating.

Filming kicks off mid-February 2026, though the listed end date of May 2026 has raised some eyebrows. Previous seasons typically required 8-10 months of production, so fans speculate this may represent the first filming block rather than the complete production schedule.

Why the Long Wait Until 2027?

While Summer 2027 might seem far away, quality takes time. Season 3 wasn’t included in Netflix’s 2026 lineup announcement, confirming that fans will need patience for the next chapter of Wednesday Addams’ story. The extended timeline allows for meticulous attention to the gothic details that make the show a global phenomenon.

Jenna Ortega Returns to Nevermore Academy

Star Jenna Ortega will reprise her iconic role as Wednesday Addams, bringing back the deadpan humor and supernatural mysteries that helped Season 2 become Netflix’s fourth most-watched series ever. The show’s massive success proves audiences can’t get enough of Wednesday’s dark world.

What This Means for Fans

The February start date means production is imminent, and we can expect behind-the-scenes glimpses and casting announcements soon. With the Briarcliff codename protecting the shoot from unwanted attention, the production team can focus on delivering the high-quality gothic thriller fans expect.
