ASUS ROG XREAL R1: World’s First 240Hz AR Gaming Glasses

ASUS Republic of Gamers unveiled the ROG XREAL R1—the world’s first 240Hz micro-OLED FHD AR gaming glasses—at CES 2026. Developed with XREAL, these 91-gram glasses project a 171-inch virtual screen at 4 meters distance with 57° field of view, delivering buttery-smooth gaming for PC, consoles, and ROG Ally handhelds through 3ms motion-to-photon latency.

ROG XREAL R1: Big-Screen Gaming Goes Wearable

The breakthrough 240Hz micro-OLED panel with 1920×1080 resolution eliminates motion blur and jittering for competitive gaming. XREAL’s proprietary X-Prism Optical Engine—the company’s most compact yet—maximizes immersion while maintaining comfort during extended sessions. The 57° expanded view covers 95% of the focused viewing area, creating spatial presence without VR’s isolation.

Native 3DoF with Anchor Mode allows pinning the virtual screen anywhere in physical space or centering it on the wearer. This freedom enables looking away from anchored screens without losing position—critical for checking real-world surroundings during gaming breaks. Follow Mode keeps displays centered on head movement for traditional experience.

ROG Control Dock & Ecosystem Integration

The bundled ROG Control Dock provides DisplayPort 1.4 and dual HDMI 2.0 ports enabling seamless switching between gaming PC and console with single clicks. Direct USB-C connection to ROG Ally handhelds delivers zero-setup, plug-and-play giant-screen experiences while maintaining full touchscreen controls on the device itself.

Electrochromic lens technology automatically adjusts transparency based on lighting conditions. Lenses become transparent when looking away from anchored screens and tint when viewing content—optimizing real-world visibility and virtual display contrast. Three manual dimming levels suit varying environments from bright outdoors to dark rooms.

Sound by Bose technology delivers immersive 3D audio enhancing spatial awareness without external headphones. The integrated system provides directional sound cues critical for competitive gaming while maintaining lightweight comfort at 91 grams—significantly lighter than VR headsets demanding 400-500 gram tolerances.

The X1 spatial coprocessing chip powers on-display controls and reduces latency for 3DoF features. Users adjust virtual screen size and distance via button presses, customizing viewing experiences for productivity tasks or extreme gaming without removing glasses.
