India hosted England for a 4-match Test series. England shocked the hosts and won the very first match. But, Team India took the defeat in their stride and made a massive comeback in the second test and levelled the series 1-1.

After that, there was no looking back as they won the Day/Night third test match and finally won the fourth test match by an innings and 25 runs today. India won the series by 3-1 and became the No 1 ranked Test team in the world.

This also ensured that India qualified for the inaugural ICC World Test Championship final. New Zealand had already booked their place in the final.

India will now play the final of ICC World Test Championship against New Zealand from 18th to 22nd June at the Lord’s Cricket Ground. 23rd June has been kept as a reserve day.

That victory against England means India finish the league phase of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship with a fine view from the top of the table 🔝#INDvENG | #WTC21 pic.twitter.com/rXFiKPXdB7

The final was originally scheduled to be held from 10th to 14th June. However, it was postponed keeping in mind the proximity between the ICC World Test Championship final and the Indian Premier League 2021 final (dates are yet to be officially announced, but it usually happens in that time period). The players may also have to stay in quarantine before playing the ICC World Test Championship final.

So keeping all these things in mind, 18th June has been decided for the start of the final test match. It would be an exciting Test match when two of the best captains, Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson, take on each other in the home of cricket.
