Now entering the final few months of his contract as a Liverpool player, it seems in all likelihood that Gini Wijnaldum will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season when his contract expires with the Merseyside club.
Renowned German journalist Christian Falk has confirmed that JĂĽrgen Klopp’s team is looking at Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus as a possible recruit in the summer, which is when the club like to do their best business. Here is what Falk had to say:
“It’s true that they’ve been watching the player for a while. The whole thing is not yet concrete according to our information, but it can, of course, become concrete, and he asks to play there,” the renowned Bundesliga journalist told Bild (via Sport Witness). “Neuhaus has an exit clause of 40 million, which could be triggered in the summer, and Dortmund has distanced itself after the Rose transfer and will not take any player from its team.”
“Bayern has to save money after the 42.5 million transfer of Upamecano; it is currently rather unlikely that they will put another 40 million on the table,” Falk added. “That means it must be another league if Neuhaus wants to change, and there is the Premier League and Liverpool, of course.
All of this of course, depends on whether or not Liverpool can reach an agreement with Gini Wijnaldum regarding an extension of his current deal with the club. Neuhaus will be an interesting addition to the midfield and €40 million could be a great deal if they manage to pull it off.
