Baahubali Removed from Netflix: Epic Re-Release Coming October 31

In a strategic move that has excited fans worldwide, SS Rajamouli’s iconic Baahubali franchise has been removed from Netflix ahead of its theatrical re-release. Both Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion are no longer available on the streaming platform as makers prepare to offer audiences a never-before-seen cinematic experience with Baahubali: The Epic.

Baahubali: The Epic Quick Facts

Why Baahubali Left Netflix

With less than a month remaining until the historic theatrical comeback, the makers decided to withdraw both films from Netflix to create exclusivity around the re-release. This strategic decision aims to drive audiences back to theaters for a fresh, reimagined viewing experience that combines both parts into one grand cinematic event.

The move reflects growing confidence in theatrical re-releases, especially for landmark films that defined an era of Indian cinema. By removing digital access temporarily, producers are betting that fans will flock to theaters to experience Baahubali: The Epic on the big screen where it truly belongs.

What is Baahubali: The Epic?

Baahubali: The Epic represents a reimagined version of the beloved franchise, clubbing both The Beginning (2015) and The Conclusion (2017) into one comprehensive theatrical experience. Director SS Rajamouli is personally supervising the post-production work, ensuring that this re-release offers something fresh and special to audiences.

The decision to combine both films suggests potential additions, enhanced visual effects, or restructured storytelling that could offer new perspectives on the familiar narrative. Rajamouli’s personal involvement indicates this isn’t just a simple re-release but a carefully crafted cinematic event.

The Baahubali Phenomenon

When Baahubali: The Beginning released in 2015, it revolutionized Indian cinema with its scale, visual grandeur, and storytelling ambition. The film’s success was amplified by Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017), which became the highest-grossing Indian film at the time and answered the franchise’s most burning question: “Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali?”

The two-part saga starring Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati, Tamannaah, Ramya Krishna, Sathyaraj, and Nasser became a cultural phenomenon that transcended language barriers and established Indian cinema’s capability to compete globally.

Box Office Expectations

Industry experts predict Baahubali: The Epic will set new benchmarks among re-releases. The original films’ combined box office collections exceeded ₹2,500 crores globally, and while re-releases typically don’t match original collections, the franchise’s enduring popularity suggests strong theatrical performance.

Recent successful re-releases like Titanic, Avatar, and regional Indian films have proven that audiences are willing to revisit beloved stories on the big screen, especially when presented with enhanced experiences.

For now, fans eager to experience the Baahubali magic must wait for October 31 or revisit their existing physical or digital copies.

This strategic removal demonstrates how content owners are increasingly leveraging theatrical exclusivity windows to maximize revenue across different distribution platforms.
