Rockstar has not confirmed anything officially about Grand Theft Auto 6. But multiple rumors are strongly suggesting that GTA 6 is happening. The fans are now desperate to play the game and now a potential patent related to the game is spotted.
Initially, this was spotted by Reddit user ElementNo28, it was filed by Take-Two Interactive (parent company of Rockstar) back in October. David Hynd and Simon Parr, who deserves the credit for inventing the patent. David and Simon work at Rockstar as technical director and lead AI programmer respectively.
According to the link, it is hinting that the patent is being used for an upcoming game of Rockstar, which is assumed to be GTA 6. This patent defines a new system for non-player navigation and would make the computer character’s movements more realistic.
You might have seen that an in-game character is still walking after being stuck on the corner of a bench or something. This system will prevent that and also defines specific characteristics for every non-player character. For example, the speeds should be different depending on what kind of vehicle they are riding, on what type of road they are driving, or on the weather.
At this moment, it seems that an official announcement of GTA 6 is far away, as Rockstar is now working hard on updating Grand Theft Auto Online and wants to bring Grand Theft Auto 5 and the Online version to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 later in 2021.
