Jesús Fortea Commits to Real Madrid Until 2031 After Talks with Alonso and Arbeloa

In a significant development for Real Madrid’s long-term project, young right-back Jesús Fortea has agreed to extend his stay at the club, reportedly signing a new deal that runs through 2031. Although some sources, including AS, suggest the contract may stretch until 2029, the renewal is expected to be officially confirmed soon. The decision marks a turning point in Fortea’s journey with the club—one that might not have materialized without the influence of two club icons: Álvaro Arbeloa and Xabi Alonso.

A Talent on the Brink of Departure

Fortea’s new contract comes as a surprise to many observers who had anticipated his departure this summer. Despite the 18-year-old’s impressive development, he found himself overlooked by former first-team manager Carlo Ancelotti, even during a period when regular starter Dani Carvajal was injured and Lucas Vázquez’s form had noticeably dipped.

This lack of trust from the senior coaching staff led to growing speculation that Fortea would seek opportunities elsewhere, potentially depriving Real Madrid of one of the most promising right-backs in European football.

Arbeloa and Alonso: Influential Voices in Fortea’s Future

The turning point in the renewal saga was a series of crucial conversations with recently instated Castilla Coach Álvaro Arbeloa and the new manager succeeding Carlo Ancelotti, Xabi Alonso. Both figures, deeply connected to Real Madrid’s identity and vision, were instrumental in convincing Fortea to stay.

Their message was clear: Real Madrid values him, and his pathway to the first team remains intact. It’s a testament to the influence both men have within the club’s ecosystem, especially in shaping the future of La Fábrica—Real Madrid’s esteemed youth academy.

“Jesús Fortea has signed a new contract with Real Madrid that will keep him at the club until 2031, according to it’s official now,” reports state, though the final duration awaits official confirmation.

La Fábrica Alignment: A Shared Vision for Youth

Real Madrid’s renewed focus on nurturing homegrown talent has gained momentum in recent seasons, with Arbeloa and Alonso at the forefront of that vision. Both former players are strong advocates for accelerating the development of top-tier academy products, and Fortea is now seen as a key beneficiary of that strategic alignment.

Their belief in the young right-back signals a shift within the club—one that values internal promotion over external purchases, especially in positions where the market lacks depth. Fortea’s technical skills, positional intelligence, and versatility make him an ideal candidate to reinforce a squad that is constantly balancing experience with youth.

A Golden Opportunity at the Club World Cup

As part of Real Madrid’s plans to further integrate Fortea into the senior setup, the teenager is expected to join the first team for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. This prestigious tournament presents a perfect platform for Fortea to showcase his abilities on the global stage, potentially seizing the opportunity that has long eluded him.

With Xabi Alonso unlikely to take risks during key league and Champions League fixtures, the Club World Cup could serve as a low-pressure environment for Fortea to earn his first minutes in the iconic white shirt.

Future-Proofing a Key Position

In a market increasingly barren of top-class full-backs, retaining a talent like Fortea is both a tactical and symbolic win for Real Madrid. Allowing him to leave without ever featuring for the first team would have sent the wrong message—not just to fans, but also to the many aspiring players within La Fábrica.

Instead, the club has doubled down on its faith in the youth system. Fortea’s extension represents a renewed commitment to developing elite talent in-house, with Alonso and Arbeloa shaping a new blueprint for success from within.
