Marvel and Disney have confirmed six familiar faces will reprise their roles once Avengers: Doomsday (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027) wrap up the Multiverse Saga. The catch? Their comeback lives at Disney California Adventure’s Avengers Campus, not in theaters.

Who’s Coming Back, and Where in Avengers ?
Two new attractions — Avengers: Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab — are bringing actors back on-screen for fresh footage, even for characters who haven’t appeared in years.
| Actor | Character | Ride | Status in Doomsday/Secret Wars |
|---|---|---|---|
| Robert Downey Jr. | Iron Man (footage) | Infinity Defense | Playing Doctor Doom instead |
| Chris Hemsworth | Thor | Both rides | Confirmed for Doomsday |
| Anthony Mackie | Captain America | Infinity Defense | Confirmed for Doomsday |
| Brie Larson | Captain Marvel | Stark Flight Lab | Not in Doomsday; unconfirmed for Secret Wars |
| Jeremy Renner | Hawkeye | Infinity Defense | Unconfirmed, filmed on Doomsday set |
| Iman Vellani | Ms. Marvel | Infinity Defense | Not in either film |
Why This Matters
The most eyebrow-raising detail: Robert Downey Jr. filmed new Iron Man footage for the ride while shooting Doomsday as Doctor Doom — meaning fans get new Tony Stark content without any confirmed return to the suit on-screen. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, by contrast, is very much still active, having said he’d play the character “a couple more times” beyond 2027.
For Larson, Renner, and Vellani, the rides may be the clearest signal yet that Marvel hasn’t written them off — even without confirmed film roles. Disney says the rides blend physical sets with on-screen media, moving riders through recreated New York, Wakanda, and Asgard.
