2027’s Most Terrifying Horror Lineup Is Here — La Llorona Weeps Again & The Conjuring Gets a Chilling New Origin!

Horror fans, buckle up — 2027 is shaping up to be one of the most spine-chilling years in supernatural cinema history. Warner Bros. is pulling no punches, delivering not one but two massive horror events that are already sending shivers down the spines of genre enthusiasts worldwide.

First, the legendary Latin American spirit La Llorona — the Weeping Woman who has haunted folklore for centuries — returns in a terrifying sequel that promises to be darker, deeper, and more emotionally devastating than ever before. And if that’s not enough to keep you up at night, the billion-dollar Conjuring universe refuses to rest in peace, travelling back in time with a brand-new prequel that explores the origins of the most iconic supernatural franchise in modern horror. These aren’t just movies — they’re events. Mark your calendars, dim the lights, and prepare yourself for what 2027 has in store.

1. The Revenge of La Llorona (April 9, 2027)

La Llorona — the Weeping Woman of Latin American folklore — is back, and she’s angrier than ever. The Revenge of La Llorona is the long-awaited sequel directed by Santiago Menghini (No One Gets Out Alive), from a script by Sean Tretta.

The story centers on the return of the vengeful spirit, forcing a fractured family to confront their past, reunite with their estranged grandfather, and battle ancient evils before La Llorona claims their children forever. cultureelixir It’s a deeply personal, family-driven horror narrative — the kind that lingers long after the credits roll because the emotional stakes feel achingly real.

Returning to the sequel is Raymond Cruz (Breaking Bad, Alien: Resurrection) as curandero Rafael Olvera, joined by a powerful fresh ensemble including Jay Hernandez (Hostel), Monica Raymund, Edy Ganem (9-1-1), Martín Fajardo (Griselda), and young actors Acston Luca Porto and Avie Porto. cultureelixir This cast brings grit, heart, and cultural authenticity to a story rooted in generations of Latin folklore and supernatural dread.

2. The Conjuring: First Communion (September 10, 2027)

Just when you thought the Warrens had taken their final bow, the Conjuring universe pulls you right back in — and this time, it’s going all the way back to where the terror first began. The Conjuring: First Communion is a prequel from New Line Cinema, directed by Rodrigue Huart from a screenplay by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, landing in theaters on September 10, 2027 — Warner Bros.’ proven post-Labor Day sweet spot for genre releases. VarietyDeadline

The prequel follows The Conjuring: Last Rites, which became the franchise’s highest-grossing entry ever, earning nearly $495 million worldwide on just a $55 million budget — making it only the third horror film in history to cross that staggering threshold. ScreenRant No studio walks away from numbers like that, and frankly, nor should they.

Plot details remain tightly under wraps, and it’s not yet confirmed whether Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will reprise their iconic roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren. Bloody Disgusting! A younger portrayal of the legendary paranormal duo feels like the most natural direction. Adding more excitement, HBO is developing a full Conjuring TV series with Nancy Won serving as writer, showrunner, and executive producer ScreenRant — meaning the universe is expanding in every direction imaginable.
