Andrey Santos officially joins Chelsea for €12.5 million

Chelsea have completed the signing of Andrey Santos from Brazilian club Vasco da Gama. The youngster has signed a long-term contract with the West London side, and he is expected to be a part of their project for the future. 

The Premier League club will be paying €12.5 million for the youngster born in 2004. And he joins the likes of Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei, David Datro Fofana, Omari Hutchinson and Gabriel Slolina – all of whom have been recruited for the long-term project being built at Stamford Bridge. 

Andrey Santos joins Chelsea on a permanent deal 

“Vasco da Gama agreed this Friday (01/06) the permanent transfer of the athlete Andrey Santos to European football. Born in the youth ranks of Gigante da Colina, the midfielder will defend the colours of Chelsea, from England, in the coming seasons,” the official statement from Vasco da Gama read. 

There was a release clause in his contract worth €40 million, but the deal struck between the two clubs will not be anywhere close to that amount.

It is as of yet unclear whether the 18-year-old will be sent out on loan or whether he will be part of the club for the remainder of the team. He has become the second arrival for Todd Boehly’s side in as many days, with Benoit Badiashile joining yesterday
