The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s “next-gen” update is soon here, and recently CD Projekt Red released a preview of the game’s newly added ray tracing and other graphic upgrades. They also presented a sneak preview of some content that was influenced by the Netflix series while showcasing other new features, such as Photo Mode and new camera angles.

In-depth, The Witcher 3 will feature ray-traced global illumination and shadows on PC, but no reflections (expect updated screen space reflections there). With new Ultra+ settings for those of you with powerful setups, the game’s overall visual brilliance has been been enhanced yet again.

Additionally, CDPR has incorporated DLSS and FSR 2 compatibility so you can get the best performance out of The Witcher 3 even if your PC isn’t exactly cutting edge.

There will be a 4K/30fps Quality mode and a 60fps Performance mode on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, though they didn’t say what resolution to anticipate in the latter. You may expect the same ray-traced global illumination and shadows in Quality mode, with visual detail hovering around Ultra quality. Given that CDPR has implemented FSR 2 on consoles, performance ought to be excellent.

The Xbox Series S has received less information, but it will have a 60 frames per second mode. And PS5 users get a minor perk because the game will now fully support the haptics and adjustable triggers of the Dualsense controller.

The Witcher 3 next-gen update arrives on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 on December 14.
