Microsoft Flight Simulator receives Helicopters and Gliders for its 40th Anniversary Update

In honor of the 40th anniversary of the Microsoft Flight Simulator series, Asobo Studios has revealed a special anniversary version that adds new aircraft to the game. The most recent installment of the Microsoft Flight Simulator series, which is now playable on PC and Xbox Series X/S, was released in 2020.

One of the longest-running video game brands is Microsoft Flight Simulator, which was initially released in 1982. A sizable upgrade is now available to console and PC users with the introduction of the 40th Anniversary Edition. Additionally, these upgrades are free of charge and are accessible to players who have elected to use Game Pass.

This free update to the game includes the addition of several historic aircraft, including the 1903 Wright Flyer, the 1915 Curtiss JN-4 Jenny, and the renowned 1947 Hughes H-4 Hercules “Spruce Goose.” Helicopters and gliders have also made a comeback in the series along with these recognizable aircraft.

The vehicle modifications for Flight Simulator are completed by a meticulously detailed replica of a real-life Airbus A310.

Players will be happy to learn that these new avionic marvels come with 14 new Heliports, 15 glider airports, and venerable airfields like Chicago’s Meigs Field. The latter should be recognized by series aficionados as it served as the franchise’s customary home airport. Players’ flight skills will be scrutinized, similar to the Flight Simulator crossover with Top Gun: Maverick earlier in the year. Even the most experienced pilots will be put to the test with the 24 obstacles that have previously appeared in the franchise.

The game has received significant improvements from the Asobo Studio team only in the past year. The most recent Italy update for Flight Simulator enhanced the detail in and around the European nation. The fact that the creators are going to such measures to commemorate the franchise reaching such a significant milestone will no doubt please fans.
