Samsung’s LPDDR5 RAM is used in the current 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. The M1 Pro chip has a maximum memory bandwidth of 200 GB/s, while the M1 Max chip has a maximum bandwidth of 400 GB/s. Speculatively, it is plausible that the upcoming MacBook Pro models will include Samsung’s newest LPDDR5X RAM, which has the potential to enhance memory bandwidth by up to 33% while consuming up to 20% less power. For the M2 Pro and M2 Max, this would result in memory bandwidths of up to 300 GB/s and 600 GB/s, respectively.

Beyond the M2 Pro and M2 Max CPUs, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman anticipates little major changes in the upcoming MacBook Pro models. At this moment, news releases on the Apple Newsroom website will likely unveil the laptops in November at the earliest.

Apple introduced several new Macs in November, including the first three Macs using the M1 chip in 2020 and the initial 16-inch MacBook Pro in 2019.

Released in October 2021, the current 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro versions received a full redesign with a notch in the display and more connectors like HDMI, MagSafe, and an SD card reader. These models were equipped with the M1 Pro and M1 Max CPUs.
