Huawei P60 series is reportedly going to be powered by a Kirin 9100 SoC made with 14nm 3D packaging. The 14nm SoC is said to be comparable to a 5nm SoC. Compared to the 5nm process that houses 15 billion transistors, the 14nm process only has around 2 billion, so it definitely does make us curious about what HUAWEI is working on behind closed doors.

Huawei Kirin chipset named as “Kirin 9100” in the production pipeline at the moment. To be mentioned, there’s no official Huawei statement on the next Kirin chipset or Kirin 9100 at the moment. Reported from Gizmochina (23/7), the information got here from a tipster who shared info on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging web site). In a submit on social media, the tipster revealed that though it’s based mostly on a 14nm course of, the efficiency of the brand new chip might be comparable to the present 5nm course of.

The decision to go with a 14nm Kirin 9100 SoC over a 5nm SoC is said to be because of the US sanctions imposed on the Chinese company. Huawei was banned by the US in 2019, under which the Chinese company had to stop manufacturing and acquiring chipsets from the US.
