All the Fantastic Sony Films Hit on Netflix in 2022 & beyond

Netflix has come up with a new agreement with Sony Pictures in the US. There is many new Sony film coming for the service and Sont is generating many incredible titles for the streaming service across the world. 

In 2021, Netflix and Sony have signed a landmark deal in April 2021 to get Sony’s feature movies for service in the coveted pay-1 window. It indicates any Sony theatrical releases are arriving on Netflix 6 months after they have debuted in theatres. 

The deal just grown beyond theatrical releases. In 2022 there two direct-to-video films come from Netflix. It seems we are also continuing to watch Netflix purchasing the global rights to Sony films or Sony Pictures exclusively produced for Netflix. 

Sony Movies to hit on Netflix Globally 


Sine the years we have seen many Sony films skip cinemas and provided to Netflix instead of money, mainly during the pandemic. Examples are Vivo, The Mitchells Vs. The Machines, Wish Dragon, and Fatherhood. 

The current resources reveal that K-Pop: Demon Hunters from Sony Animation is also set to give a big jump over to Netflix but there is no such official confirmation if that yet from Netflix just yet. 


1. The Man from Toronto

Release Date on Netflix: 24th June 2022 

Netflix just made it as an intention to make itself the home of Kevin Hart films and that trend continues after Netflix got the global rights to the latest action-comedy thriller The man from Toronto. 

The film is co-starring Woody Harrelson and Kaley Cuoco, the film is based on the world’s deadliest assassin and the biggest screw-up is just mistaken for each other at the Airbnb rental.

2. Matilda: The Musical 

Release Date on Netflix: December  2022 

Netflix seems like all-in on Roald Dahl who given to be bought the rights of the book and also has been adopting many of the tales in the upcoming years so it has made while they picked up Matilda: The Musical from Sony 

It is notable that Sony already has distribution rights in the United Kingdom which values nothing from where it has planned to distribute the film in cinemas.

3. Lady Chatterley’s Lover 

The new film of Emma Corrin who is portraying Princess Diana in Netflix’s The Crown and also will be playing Lady Constance Chatterley in this new adaptation of the D.H. Lawrence novel. 

Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre is also set to direct the film and also based on a woman who just broken the forms and also the traditions of her time while she just falls out of love along with her husband and starts a torrid affair with a man who is working on their English estate.

4. Masters of the Universe 

After the development at Sony for years, the live-action Masters of the Universe also will be headlined by Kyle Allen who is playing the lead role of He-Man and is arriving exclusively on Netflix. The shooting is expected to start in the summer of 2022.

After ignoring the usual licensed library content, many Sony films make their SVOD debuts on Netflix.

Sony Film Coming to Netflix US in 2022 

There are many Sony films dated since the next couple of years. In the original press release, Netflix said that the future entries Venom, Spiderman, Jumanji, and n Bad Boys all are headed for the service.

It will bring some mysterious and also deadly hunt for the treasure to life. It also contains many comedic scenes. It is a complete package of action and along with Holland and Wahlberg, we will see Sophia Ali, Tati Gabrielle, and Antonio Banderas.

There are no more updates about the plotline of the show as it needs more lights, but we just know that it revolves around a crash of an astronaut who just land on a strange planet and find out he is not alone. 

3. I Wanna Dance With Somebody

Sony has to do a big battle for the rights of the film based on the biopic of Whitney Houston which means we might see a future Oscar nomination for the actress Naomi Ackie who also taking a big gigantic role. The 

The screenplay of Whitney Houston’s life has been written by Anthony McCarten who had been responsible for writing the Quen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. The biopic is not an event set for theatres until 2022, subscribers are going to wait until the summer of 2023.

We have heard that sky is limited in imagination, and with it, we may add the budget of the upcoming animated Spider-Man sequel, if it follows its predecessor then we are all drowning in the amazing time. We have now very few details about the Spider-Verse film, but it is expected soon we are going to see more variations.

13. Morbius

Jared Leto has played the incredible role of the vampire, Dr. Michael Morbius. The story is based on a man who is suffering from a rare blood disease, Morbius who starts a tremendous and risky experiment for saving himself and also the others just like him. At first, it seems to get the success but earlier the doctor starts experimenting with dark and uncontrollable urges that are just forcing him to become thirsty for human blood. After generating the pseudo vampire powers like increase strengthen, speed, and echolocation, Morbius must have overcome the devil inside him otherwise he just succumb to it and doom the people around him. 

The video does not go deep into the past of Morbius as Leto discusses briefly the antiheros’  villainous source and the first comic appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man#101.  It is reported that the supernatural creature getting banned by the Comics Code Authority and also from the industry’s censorship board due to excess violence. The ban had been repealed in 1971 which also led Marvel free to be capitalized in such a growing horror category.
