The NBMiner team, also known as NebuMiner, has updated its mining program, allowing users to use full mining capabilities on NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 LHR graphics cards. Because the NiceHash and NebuMiner applications are closed-source, it’s difficult to observe the adjustments to the code that the NBMiner team did to unlock the light hash rate.

The most intriguing aspect of this development is that both teams, which are well-known in the crypto mining industry for their respective mining software, were able to unlock NVIDIA’s LHR limiter virtually simultaneously. It’s possible that the two organizations traded information about the procedure in question.

NVIDIA introduced the LHR restriction for their graphics cards in February of last year to discourage crypto miners from using the devices in such a large capacity. However, due to the demand from gamers, consumers, and miners, graphics cards were limited for several months, making customers pay exorbitant prices for their required GPUs.

The website Videocardz was contacted by, @JJDizz1L, on Twitter, who confirmed that the software NBMiner v41 works on NVIDIA RTX 30 series graphics cards and is the first time LHR has been unlocked on the Linux open-source operating system.

With the recent release of NVIDIA RTX 30 series cards on the market, novice and experienced crypto miners looking for graphics cards to aid in the mining process will benefit. NVIDIA should benefit as well since more people are expected to buy their cards now that the LHR is completely unlocked on their popular series of cards.

Due to ROI and power efficiency, cryptocurrency fans may opt for the less expensive RTX 30 series GPUs for their purposes. However, AMD has a huge number of Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards on the market, and the devices were not equipped with LHR limiters.
