The Top 10 Most-Streamed Movies in India


K.G.F Chapter 1 is the most-streamed movie across all streaming platforms in India in the past two weeks due to the hype around the success of K.G.F Chapter 2 after making 740 crores worldwide. Surprisingly, director Prashanth Neel’s first movie “Ugramm” has also seen a sharp increase in popularity and ranks 9th among the movies most streamed in India. K.G.F Chapter 2 being a blockbuster hit has made the fans revisit the director’s previous movies.

Here’s the list of the top 10 movies that were most streamed in the last week in India:

1. K.G.F: Chapter 1

K.G.F: Chapter 1 is a 2018 Kannada period action movie. The fearless Rocking star Rocky Bhai wanted to control the globe and become so well-known that he himself become a brand later on after his struggle in his early life. In his quest for dominance, he traveled to the Kolar Gold Fields to assassinate Garuda and take control of the territory. And indeed, he was successful in his search and obtaining the KGF location with the assistance of slave laborers.

The film’s development began in early 2015, after Neel finished writing the screenplay. Filming began two years later, in January 2017. Most of the film is set in the Kolar Gold Fields and was filmed in locales such as KolarMysore, and parts of North Karnataka. The film’s production was completed in August 2018.Bhuvan Gowda handled the cinematography and Srikanth Gowda edited the film. Composer Ravi Basrur scored the film.

2. The Batman

The Batman is a 2022 American superhero movie based on the DC Comics character Batman. It is produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Films, 6th & Idaho, and Dylan Clark Productions, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It is a reboot of the Batman film franchise. The film was directed by Matt Reeves and it stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman alongside Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell.

3. Spider-Man: No Way Home

Spider-Man: No Way Home is a 2021 American superhero movie based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios. It is the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and the 27th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Jon Watts and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. It stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, alongside Zendaya and Benedict Cumberbatch.

4. The King’s Man

The King’s Man is a 2021 spy action movie. It is directed by Matthew Vaughn. This movie is the third installment in the British Kingsman film series and is based on the comic book The Secret Service (later retitled Kingsman) by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, it is a prequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) and Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017). It stars Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance.

5. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is a 2018 fantasy movie. It is directed by David Yates and written by J. K. Rowling. This movie is the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016), the second installment in the Fantastic Beasts film series, and the tenth overall in the Wizarding World franchise. It stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, William Nadylam, Kevin Guthrie, Jude Law, and Johnny Depp.

6. Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a 2021 American supernatural comedy movie. It is directed by Jason Reitman and written by Reitman and Gil Kenan. This movie is a sequel to Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989), and the fourth film in the Ghostbusters franchise. It is Set 32 years after the events of Ghostbusters II, it follows a single mother and her children who move to an Oklahoma farm they inherited from her estranged father. The film stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Bokeem Woodbine, Paul Rudd, Logan Kim, and Celeste O’Connor. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and Sigourney Weaver appear in supporting roles, reprising their characters from the earlier films.

7. Death on the Nile

Death on the Nile is a 2022 mystery movie. It is directed by Kenneth Branagh and is based on the 1937 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie. It was produced by Branagh, Ridley Scott, Judy Hofflund, and Kevin J. Walsh. This movie is a sequel to Murder on the Orient Express (2017), and it stars Tom Bateman, Annette Bening, Branagh, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright.

8. Bachchhan Pandey

Bachchan Pandey is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language action-comedy movie. It is directed by Farhad Samji and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. It stars Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Arshad Warsi. This movie is basically a remake of the 2014 Tamil filmJigarthanda. which itself was inspired by the 2006 South Korean film named A Dirty Carnival. The film was released theatrically on 18 March 2022.

9. Ugramm

Ugramm (Furious) is a 2014 Indian Kannada-language action thriller film. It is directed by Prashanth Neel and produced under the banner Inkfinite Pictures with his brother Pradeep Neel as the executive producer. It stars Srimurali and Haripriya as the lead role, it also stars Thilak Shekar, Atul Kulkarni, Avinash, Jai Jagadish and others. 

10. Dasvi

Dasvi is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language social comedy movie. It is written by Ritesh Shah and directed by debutante Tushar Jalota. The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan under his banner Maddock Films in collaboration with Jio Studios and Bake My Cake Films. It stars Abhishek Bachchan, Yami Gautam, and Nimrat Kaur. Bachchan plays the role of an uneducated politician, with Gautam as an IPS officer. The film premiered on Netflix and Jio Cinema on 7th April 2022.
