ISL: SC East Bengal signs Daniel Chima Chukwu and Franjo Prce for the 2021-22 season

After much dilemma, SC East Bengal is finally set to compete in their second ISL season. They had confusion with their investors on the agreement which has now been settled as they are looking to build a competitive team in the last few remaining days before the ISL 2021-22 season starts on 19th November.

SC East Bengal signed Slovenian midfielder Amir Dervišević and Australian defender Tomislav Mrcela. Now the Kolkata giants have signed Croatian centre-back Franjo Prce and Nigerian striker Daniel Chima Chukwu as their third and fourth foreign signings.

Daniel Chima Chukwu is a three-time Norwegian first-division league winner with Molde FK. He has signed a one-year deal with the club.

Chima said after signing for the 100-year old Indian club: “I am happy to be part of such a prestigious club. I want to help SC East Bengal win as many matches as possible. I have won titles in Norway and worked with some of the best coaches in the business. I will look to use my experience and help my teammates get better. I am also looking forward to working with our coaching staff. I was looking for a new challenge, and India excited me. The Indian Super League is growing, and I thought it would be the right move.”

East Bengal have also added Former Lazio centre-back Franjo Prce to their squad. He will partner Tomislav Mrcela in the heart of the SCEB defence.

Prce said after signing a one year deal with SCEB: “I have been on the move from a very young age. I have played in Italy when I was in my formative years as a footballer and it was an amazing experience. Likewise, India excited me and when the offer from such a big club like SC East Bengal came my way, it was a no-brainer. I have played with some of the big names in world football and it has helped me grow on and off the field. I think I can use my experience here in the ISL and try to help my team do well. I am eagerly waiting to experience India and I also know this club has a massive fan base. It’s a shame that they can’t be with us in the stands but we will play for them. We always play for the fans.”

The Red-And-Gold Brigade will face Jamshedpur FC in their opening match of the Indian Super League 2021-22 season, on 21st November at the Tilak Maidan Stadium, Goa.
