Christian Eriksen could resume training in a month

Christian Eriksen collapsed during their Euro 2020 match against Finland and was saved because of quick action from his Danish national teammates and medical staff. He was rushed to a hospital where he had his Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) procedure implemented.

Eriksen has been in good condition since then and he doesn’t intend to retire from football so early. However, the presence of the ICD means that the player will not be eligible to play in Italy under the rules in place.

According to a report by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Christian Eriksen is now back in Milan and he’ll undergo some necessary tests in the Italian capital. If the test goes well, the Inter midfielder can begin his training in a month.

However, if the medical tests indicate that the ICD cannot be removed from his body and if Eriksen wishes to overturn the decision, he can take it to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

It is likely that the decision will be made in his favour as he will be having precedent on his side as Dutch international, and Ajax defender Daley Blind went through the same medical procedure and has continued to perform at the highest level till now.
