Barcelona will try to lure Bernardo Silva from Manchester City says The Telegraph

The Catalan giants have lacked the squad depth this season and with few injuries, the team had to call upon its B team players for rescue. Although its good to see players from the youth team step to the first team, but in crucial matches like in Champions League, experience does make a difference.

Although Barcelona is cashing on youth players already for this upcoming season, their attack line is short of depth, especially due to their heavyweight signings and their injuries. For a few years now, they have made big money signings but not smart signings, which is the main reason why Barça has remained away from the Champions League trophy even reaching the quarter-finals and semis.

Now, a new rumor circulates about Barça’s potential interest on Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, who has recently, lost his position to the young Phil Foden. Although Pep Guardiola has his faith in the Portuguese and respects his talent, the 25-year old has played in 52 matches this season and has not been a starter at the end of the season.

He was not in the starting XI in the crucial game against Real Madrid, although he was substituted later. Now, according to The Telegraph, the Portuguese is on Barça’s radar this summer. They have even reported that Barça will be tempting Silva to the Camp Nou by promising him an important role next season.

It is also worth to point that he has five years left on his contract so Manchester City won’t be selling him for cheap and provided the current financial situation of Barcelona, its very unlikely the Catalan giants can afford him.

This is is however, looking more like a speculated rumour rather than a trusted one which could actually makes sense, as Barcelona are flooding with midfielders and they have to sell more players than actually buying. Also there a bunch of young players like Carles Alena, Miralem Pjanic, Oriol Busquets and Matheus Fernandes and Pedri are being recruited to revive the midfield of Barcelona.

The Telegraph even claims the Catalans can add Nelson Semedo to the deal and that could change City’s minds. Now, this will be interesting to see how the transfer rumor progresses, meanwhile, both Barcelona and Manchester City have qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals.
