The Emotional Aftermath: Fang and Mira’s Grief
Episode 4 opens with Spear’s funeral, where Fang cries upon seeing her fallen friend. Months later, heavily pregnant Mira struggles while Fang raises her two children.
The grief runs deep—Fang nearly attacks a child who imitates Spear’s fighting style. Only Mira’s intervention prevents tragedy.
Entelodonts: The New Nightmare
The village’s peace shatters when ruthless pig-like creatures called Entelodonts attack, kidnapping villagers to feed their mother. These prehistoric predators overwhelm even Fang and her children.
Mira’s rescue team tracks the beasts to their lair, but a brutal nighttime ambush proves devastating. The Entelodonts slaughter villagers, ripping limbs and dragging captives. Despite Fang’s ferocity, sheer numbers overwhelm them—until something unexpected happens.
The Moment Everything Changes
Just when defeat seems inevitable, the Entelodonts suddenly smell something terrifying and flee in panic. From the shadows emerges zombie Spear—decaying, mindless, yet somehow still driven by memories of Fang’s roar echoing across continents.
The episode ends with Fang roaring at this grotesque version of her friend, while Mira stands frozen in shock. Does Fang recognize him? Will she accept this undead version? Adult Swim leaves us hanging until Episode 5.
Creator’s Vision: The Wait Was Intentional
In an exclusive ComicBook interview, Genndy Tartakovsky revealed it was “hard” keeping Fang out of the first three episodes, but the unconventional structure was deliberate. “I love starting things with a question… And that’s the fun of Primal. Without the dialogue, there’s some visual puzzling you have to solve.”
