Zinq ZQ-6600 Router UPS review: Effective and Affordable

These days as we continue to live in this pandemic era and the hybrid work/education environment is likely continuing in 2022, the need for Wi-Fi routers have increased excessively. Obviously, these days, thanks to the lower internet rates and Fiberisation of broadband, people have quickly adopted Wi-Fi usage.

However, if you do have one at your home but lack a UPS or inverter at home then you might need a UPS for your router if you have electricity fluctuations at home. The disgusting part about some routers like if you use a Jio Wi-Fi router, it takes around 3-4 minutes to set up after restart every time.

So, essentially even if you do not have long power cuts and just a few minor electricity fluctuations, repeatedly the Wi-Fi router takes time to power and again get back to work. For others who use Alliance, Den, Hathway or any other providers you will have to again login to bring the internet and it is a very tiresome job.

This is the reason why Router/Set-top Box/Intercom/CCTV UPS battery backups are getting increasingly popular these days. I was hunting one for my personal use as I do face a few power cuts or minor electricity fluctuations here and there, its been a long since I bought the Zinq ZQ-6600 back in 2021 during the sale for ₹999, it retails generally for ₹1,499.

Design

This is basically a very simple product with minimalistic paper packaging and has all that you need while the setup process is very easy. It has a grippier body and a small build which makes it easier to fit anywhere, generally, you can hook it up at the side of the router or keep it on top of it.

It is made up of plastic but doesn’t look cheap and won’t hurt the aesthetics if placed at the side of the router. There’s one simple light indicator, when green, means it is charging and there’s power, so providing charge to the router when it turns red, you will know there’s a power cut or fluctuations.

Charging

It necessarily sits between the direct power connection and the router, so, effectively it stores the charge, now, when there is a power cut or says it’s a brief outage, the Zinq UPS automatically uses the charge to power the router. Once you plug in the UPS to the router it sits right there and it remains connected always.

Well, it’s not possible to see how fast it is charging as there’s only one LED, still, as it gets hooked up to the router and stays connected always charging won’t be an issue. Being rated at 12 Volts, it easily charges most devices effortlessly and also itself gets charged up.

Power Backup

The most important of this Zinq ZQ-6600 UPS for the router is the power backup it provides when the electricity goes off or there are fluctuations. This simple device easily detects when the power is fluctuating or even there is an entire power cut, so then it uses its own power to help the router work.

The entire process takes place in a few milliseconds and there’s no lag or stutter to even disturb your workflow, I barely noticed any fluctuations when there was a power cut thanks to this cute tiny UPS.

Zinq has used a 6000mAH battery which promises up to 4 hours of backup and while I never had such long outages, however, the highest being over 2 hours, the Zinq ZQ-6600 UPS comfortably was able to provide power to my router which never really hurt my work. Well, for me this works like a charm and is enough to help me provide an uninterrupted workflow.

Verdict

This is a very simple, unique and good product that you can easily buy from Amazon India, it is a Made in India product that is also covered by a 1-year manufacturer warranty. It rightfully serves the sole purpose of buying this product and I do like its simplicity and effectiveness.

Well, if you are also facing the same issues as I did before, the Zinq ZQ-6600 UPS for the router which can also be used to power other devices like Set-top Box or Intercom or CCTV cameras is a handy option to have in your home. As we get surrounded more and more by gadgets, these small yet effective devices find their use more than ever!
