YRF’s Next Real-Life Rescue Drama After The Railway Men

Real-life heroism is becoming Yash Raj Films‘ signature storytelling territory — and its digital arm, YRF Entertainment, is doubling down. After the acclaim of The Railway Men, the banner is developing Tunnel Men, a series inspired by the 2023 Uttarakhand tunnel rescue that gripped the nation.

What Is Tunnel Men About?

The series dramatizes the real rescue mission in which 41 workers were trapped for over two weeks inside the collapsed Silkyara tunnel — one of India’s most watched and emotionally charged rescue operations in recent memory.

YRF Team Behind The Project

Pandit and Rawat mark a fresh directorial pairing for the studio, while Rawail returns as showrunner to keep the storytelling voice consistent with The Railway Men. Sources close to the project say the team is working to recreate the scale and emotional intensity of the actual rescue operation.

Why This Matters?

Tunnel Men also marks Saugata Mukherjee’s first project since joining YRF Entertainment, signaling a new creative chapter for the studio. It builds on YRF Entertainment’s growing partnership with Netflix, which began with The Romantics in 2023 and continued with The Railway Men — a four-part series led by Kay Kay Menon, R. Madhavan, Divyenndu, and Babil Khan.

With hero-driven, true-story content clearly working for the banner, Tunnel Men looks set to be its next big prestige drama.
