For the past few days, the fear and the positive cases of COVID-19 both are increased worldwide. Non-effected peoples become more concerned about their safety are staying at their homes. A maximum of them is busy on the internet as we all generally do. Office workers are generally conducting all their meetings on the internet. These all are causes of huge data traffic.
According to an internet exchange company, the average data traffic in Frankfurt touched 9.1 terabytes per second throughput. And this probably happens due to a 50% hike in video conferencing and around 25% hike in cloud gaming along with social media use.
So, internet service providers are facing troubles in managing this data traffic. To help them, to reduce data traffic YouTube announced to reduce their default video streaming option at Standard Definition. It will remain the same for the next 30 days at least. As YouTube is one of the largest video streaming platforms, they are expecting this step will be helpful, though the upper video qualities are still available. Users can change the quality in higher manually as per their choice.
YouTube is not the only one. All other renowned video streaming companies are also following this process. Some of them even removed the higher quality streaming options temporarily. Altogether, it will definitely place a bold impact on data traffic for sure.
