XPG Starker Air Compact Mid-Tower Chassis review: Affordable yet Premium

XPG has announced a brand new compact mid-tower chassis named XPG Starker Air. It is a premium PC cabinet that comes with RGB elements for an overall better gaming experience.

XPG Starker Air is a compact yet capable Mid-Tower Chassis with a magnetic MESH Front Panel design. The chassis features an innovative dust filter, and vertical VGA installation and is rounded with a smooth ARGB gaming atmosphere.

In this article, I will share my honest experience with this PC cabinet. Do read the compact yet honest review before buying the XPG Starker Air which currently retails anywhere around Rs.5,000 in India and is widely available across multiple retailers.

Specifications and Features of XPG Starker Air:

  • Spacious design and cable management for an easy and clean build
  • Front MESH Panel Design with Removable Dust Filter for easy cleaning
  • Side Panel: 4mm Tempered Glass
  • Efficient Airflow layout with 2 pre-installed XPG fans
  • Supports various M/B sizes: Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX
  • 2×2.5″ Drive space and 2x 2.5″/3.5″ Drive Trays

Why should you buy this XPG Starker Air in 2023?

XPG has sent the black model of the XPG Starker Air which has a detachable magnetic meshed front panel that can also be removed when required. There are two ARGB lighting elements at the front and these lights can be controlled via a dedicated switch on the cabinet. There is an XPG branding at the bottom of the front panel.

Now coming to the left side we can see a huge glass panel, which allows viewing the internal components of the PC. The RGB elements can be viewed inside the cabinet chassis from this glass panel. This is a tough tempered glass and even so, we need to handle it carefully.

The right side is a solid part that hides all the extra wiring, the exoskeleton design language does give it an edge at the price, on the other hand, the Magnetic MESH front panel again helps it stand out from the other cabinets you get at similar pricing. The backside of this cabinet is well-designed so that you don’t have any problems with cable management.

The XPG Starker Air chassis features an innovative dust filter and vertical VGA installation which makes it easy to use, clean, and maintain in the long run. The cabinet is versatile enough to accommodate any kind of motherboard, including Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, and ATX.

You have both a 3.5″ HDD/HDD Tray and a 2.5″ HDD/SSD Tray to store your hard disks or SSDs in a mannered way. Another good thing about this case is that it supports both vertical and horizontal GPU mounting which again is a rare thing for a cabinet at Rs.5k pricing.

In terms of cooling, the XPG Starker Air supportsĀ up to 6 fans in total, while for liquid cooling, there is support for up to 360mm radiator at the front, 280mm at the top, and 120mm at the rear end. For a most budget to mid-range builds, the liquid cooling options are good and we ourselves found our Deepcool Liquid cooler with triple fan radiator fitting inside the case comfortably.

At the front panel, you have multiple I/O ports including two USB 3.0 ports, 1 Hybrid Audio port, 1 LED control button, 1 reset button, and of course the power button. The buttons work fine and thanks to two USB 3.0 ports it’s easier to insert USB drives or smartphones or any device easily while maintaining good transfer speeds.

Only two fans come included, and one of them is ARGB, so you have to spend on the extra RGB cooling fans you want to install. The max graphic card length is 350mm which is enough to even support the newer RTX 40-series GPUs, at this price, this XPG Starker Air is comparable to the Cooler Master K501L RGB cabinet we personally use and has a slight edge over the latter in terms of looks but lacks that depth and is a bit smaller.

While most should suffice with the XPG Starker Air and is a good option if you are looking for a cabinet in Rs.5k price segment but yes it lacks pre-applied fans or is not very fancy by design but very practical in our opinion. Well, should you buy it? If you feel this XPG Starker Air is in your price bracket and find it fitting for your PC needs then you should go for it.
