Xiaomi 15 Ultra Set to Impress with 200MP Main Camera and Quad-Camera Setup: Rumors and Specs

Apple and Samsung are preparing to provide impressive camera capabilities on their forthcoming flagship models but the initial whispers indicate Xiaomi 15 Ultra could outperform them both in terms of high-end camera hardware. Various recent leaks suggest that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, potentially running on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip from Qualcomm could feature an industry-leading main camera with 200 megapixels. It appears to also have 4x optical zoom, and that could be the most exciting part.

Rumors About the Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s Camera

According to a report, tipster Ice Universe recently posted on Weibo that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will feature four rear cameras along with one of them being a 200MP sensor. But it is almost unanimous that huge, high-megapixel count sensors like 200MP are most likely going to be from Samsung in the current market scenario as they seem to be actively manufacturing and mass-manufacturing these large pixel-count sensors. A 35mm custom optical primary camera was also hinted at by another tipster, Digital Chat Station which will be part of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra with a rumored HP9 sensor that may end up in upcoming Vivo and Nubia flagship devices.

Apart from the 200MP primary camera, the device is also said to ship with a second zoom lens as part of its quad-camera setup at the rear but details about its maximum zoom capabilities remain unclear. This is a rare triple-camera assembly for flagship smartphones, making the device stand out from its rivals.

While advanced camera hardware is crucial for capturing high-quality images and videos, the role of software processing cannot be overlooked. But the function of this camera system directly relates not just to its hardware, but also how much resource Xiaomi is willing to plow into developing software. While these claims are certainly unconfirmed at this point, they have obviously caught our eye and set expectations high for the Xiaomi device prior to its launch.
