Xiaomi 15 Teaser Reveals Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Name: Snapdragon 8 Elite, Aligning with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite

But this teaser for the Xiaomi 15 may have provided an early glimpse at whatever new chip Qualcomm has in store. It looks remarkably like the Snapdragon X Elite that’s found in many Windows laptops.

Ahead of the official introduction of Snapdragon X Elite, there were reports suggesting it would be marketed as the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4 – aligning with Qualcomm’s recent efforts to give its next-gen Snapdragon 8cx successor a sensible title. In the end, this did not happen and instead, we got the Snapdragon X Elite. As for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, expected to be announced next month, the Xiaomi 15 launch teaser circulating in China highlights the official name of the chipset.

That could mean that it would be called Snapdragon 8 Elite, which may fall in line with the Snapdragon X Elite. In its teaser, Xiaomi says the 15 series will make its debut on October 23 meaning we can expect the Snapdragon 8 Elite announcement to drop a little earlier than that. This is a confusing naming scheme and might cause some overlap but it appears that Qualcomm has Elite ‘branded’ for the better silicon and ‘Plus’ for likely not as premium silicon.
