The new update about which we are talking came from the recent Comic Con Experience. This event is taking place from November 30 to December 3, in São Paulo, Brazil.
In this event, Microsoft’s Gaming CEO Phil Spencer talked with Rachel Gamarski of Bloomberg about the company’s new strategy to develop the Microsoft Xbox Mobile Store.
He states that the company is looking forward to working with like-minded people and turning this dream into reality. He further stated that,
“It’s an important part of our strategy and something we are actively working on today not only alone but talking to other partners who’d also like to see more choices for how they can monetize on the phone. We’ve talked about choice, and today on your mobile phones, you don’t have a choice. To make sure that Xbox is not only relevant today but for the next 10, 20 years, we’re going to have to be strong across many screens.”
Now his statement about working with like-minded people has various implications. First, he pointed out their willingness to work with other gaming companies and platforms. Second, through their relations, it also wants to end the monopoly of some tech giants in the market.
So, most probably the company will be working with other gaming platforms who also share the same goal. And it can be Epic Games.
Why, well there are pretty good reasons to assume that these gaming companies will team up to establish their presence when there are already tech giants. As you may already know there are lawsuits against some tech giants like Apple and Google for their policies.
Currently, Apple and Google stores are closed for all game developers, except for those who will pay a whopping 30% as a cut. Several gaming companies and game developers want to end this policy.
Thus, it will be not surprising to hear that Microsoft and Epic Games are working on their own Xbox Mobile Store.
