This week’s 2025 Xbox Games Showcase was packed with major reveals, world premieres, and surprises that gave fans a peek at what’s coming to Xbox in the months and years ahead. The presentation was a fairly balanced and comprehensive look at Microsoft’s gaming future, including sequels to cult favorites and brand-new IPs.

High on Life 2, Planet of Lana 2, and Resonance: A Plague Tale were also among the standouts announced, which include a brand-new protagonist and deeper mythical elements for the franchise. Pokémon developer Game Freak also showed off an unexpected new post-apocalyptic action game called Beast of Reincarnation. The showstopper was the official announcement of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, taking place in 2035 and seeing the return of David Mason.

Other major announcements included Clockwork Revolution, a steampunk action-adventure with a distinctive attitude, Super Meat Boy 3D, Grounded 2, and Ninja Gaiden 4—the latter releasing on October 21 via Game Pass. Obsidian, Game Pass regulars, and PlatinumGames made their presence felt with rich offerings across genres. There were some unexpected additions as well: Aniimo, a Pokémon-style free-to-play title; Mudang: Two Hearts, a stealth-action story set in a divided Korea; and There Are No Ghosts in The Grand, a quirky mix of horror and cozy sim.

Fans also got new trailers for The Outer Worlds 2 (launching October 29), Gears of War: Reloaded (coming August 26), and a DLC for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, launching September 4. Bloober Team’s Cronos: The New Dawn and Don’t Nod’s Aphelion showcased darker and more emotional tones. Notably absent were a few expected titles, but Xbox boss Phil Spencer hinted at more coming in 2026. From indie gems to AAA blockbusters, the showcase had something for everyone, reinforcing Xbox’s long-term vision for cross-platform and Game Pass-first experiences.
