India-Women defeated Malaysia-Women in their second match of the Asia Cup, this Monday, held in Sylhet. The rain had restricted the game but the Indian Women defeated the Malaysian Women by 30 runs. Malaysia was chasing a target of 183 runs but didn’t have a good start. The team had scored 16 runs in just 5.2 overs. Due to the heavy rain, the match had to be in the DLS method. Malaysia won the toss and elected to bowl first. India posted 181 runs in 20 overs, losing four wickets. Sabbineni Meghana smashed 69 runs for 52 balls while Shefali Verma piled up 46 runs off 39 balls.

India and Malaysia had to play the match in DLS format since the outfield was very damp. Malaysia didn’t get to play 20 overs and India won the match by a good margin of 30 runs by the DLS method.

India had a very strong start that predicted the victory already. The senior players were rested and S Meghana and Kiran Navgire were presented with opportunities. The latter got out without scoring a single run but Meghana mustered 69 runs in just 53 balls. She smashed six and 11 boundaries.

Shefali Verma’s performance had an amazing performance of scoring 46 runs in 33 valls. Richa Ghosh showcased her strokeplay, mustering an unbeaten 33 runs in just 19 balls with one six and five boundaries.

The Malaysian team couldn’t restrict their run flow but had a moment of joy with every wicket they scalped. Nur Dania Syuhada was the highlight of their team scalping SHafalai Navgire’s wicket and had a figure of 2/9.

The Malaysian team had a major blow in the beginning as they lost their skipper with zero runs. Deepti Sharma picked her wicket and Rajeshwari Gayakwad lowered their chances of victory by picking Wan Julia’s wicket after which the heavy rains forced for a DLS method-based result.
