Why did Kylian Mbappe renew his contract with PSG until 2025 despite Real Madrid’s interest?

Kylian Mbappe is going to stay at Paris Saint-Germain after all the drama surrounding his future. The France international has agreed a three-year deal with the Ligue 1 side, and will be receiving a huge financial package as part of the new deal.

The most recent rumoured contract gives the player immense power as part of the sporting project of the club. It would allow him to have a say in which players are part of the squad, and the coach as well. Currently, Mauricio Pochettino and sporting director Leonardo are set to leave when the season is over.

Kylian Mbappe renews contract with PSG after dramatic saga

Real Madrid were always quite optimistic about their ambitions of signing Kylian Mbappe as a free agent this summer. But, nothing was formally agreed between the player and the La Liga champions for the transfer.

As a result, he chose PSG over Real Madrid primarily due to his ambitions of bringing the Champions League to the club. He came mighty close to winning the title in 2020, but eventually lost to Bayern Munich in the finals.

The abundance of money and power that PSG’s final offer gave him likely made it impossible for Kylian Mbappe to say no. He has been the top scorer in Ligue 1 this past season, and will be continuing with them for the foreseeable future before possibly leaving for another side.
