What’s the Film About?
The film follows Sureshan and Sumalatha, a couple deeply in love but facing fierce opposition from Sumalatha’s father, Sudhakaran Nahar, who strongly disapproves of their relationship due to caste differences and social status. Sureshan’s own family is also initially unsupportive, viewing his romantic pursuits as a waste of time.

But Sureshan isn’t the kind of guy who gives up easily. Knowing that Sudhakaran Nahar is deeply obsessed with traditional musical drama and theatre, Sureshan decides to produce and direct a local play titled Sadarama as a clever strategy to win over his stubborn potential father-in-law.
It’s a delightfully inventive premise — love meets local theatre meets family drama — wrapped in the warm, distinctly Kerala flavour that Malayalam cinema does so well.
The Cast and Connection to Nna Thaan Case Kodu
The film stars Rajesh Madhavan and Chithra Nair in the lead roles, with Sudheesh, Jinu Joseph, Sharanya Ramachandran, and Sharath Ravi in key supporting parts. Kunchacko Boban also makes a cameo appearance.
That cameo makes perfect sense — the film is a spin-off based on supporting characters from the 2022 hit Nna Thaan Case Kodu, starring Kunchacko Boban. Fans of that film will find this a warm, feel-good extension of a universe they already love.
What’s Rajesh Madhavan Been Up To?
Rajesh Madhavan recently made his directorial debut with the satirical comedy-drama Pennum Porattum, featuring Dinesh Peppo, Satheesh Pulikka, Raina Radhakrishnan, Sanooj Alanaloor, and Sumithra Krishnan in key roles. Tovino Thomas also lent his voice to a pet dog in the film. It’s clear Madhavan is expanding his creative footprint in Malayalam cinema beyond just acting.
This OTT premiere on Saina Play gives the film a second chance at a wider audience. Malayalam cinema has a proud tradition of intimate, people-first storytelling, and this romantic comedy fits right into that legacy — even if its theatrical run didn’t fully reflect that.
