What’s Season 2 About?

Season 2 is based on The Sworn Sword, the second of George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, set during a terrible drought in the Reach. It’s a grittier, more politically charged adventure than Season 1, with Dunk and Egg navigating loyalty, survival, and the slow rot of nobility — all set against a sunbaked, water-starved backdrop.

Why Is Season 2 Taking Longer to Film?

Season 1 only filmed for three months — from June 14 to September 13, 2024 — entirely in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Season 2 began in early December 2025 and will run six to seven months, more than double the previous season’s production timeline.

Two big reasons: the drought setting demanded a warmer, drier landscape, so production relocated to Spain. Sets were confirmed at Presa de Las Niñas Dam in Gran Canaria, with the area booked from February 23 to May 15, 2026.

The second reason is young star Dexter Sol Ansell. Child labour laws limited how many hours Ansell could work on set per day, which had a notable impact on Season 2 since Egg has a significantly expanded role in the second book.

When Will Season 2 Stream on OTT?

If A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms wraps production in June 2026, a release in early 2027 is highly likely — especially given the series’ simpler post-production demands compared to Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon.

HBO has also made its goal of keeping A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms on an annual release cycle well known, meaning Season 2 should arrive well before spring 2027. Hityaflopmovieworld
