What a Boss Wants : Overview

What’s the Story?

Kwon Do Hyuk is a chaebol boss with no sense of taste. He hears a woman’s voice on an album and sets out to find her. She turns out to be Lee Eun Chae, lead vocalist of an indie band, and she becomes “the only variable in his otherwise perfect life.”

Meet the Leads

Sung Hoon as Kwon Do Hyuk: the CEO of O-Yes Entertainment and an AI genius. He hides pain behind a cold exterior and trusts data more than people. At the script reading, Sung Hoon showed the character’s layers with charisma and a restrained tone.

Oh Se Young as Lee Eun Chae: overflowing with positive energy, she lives a double life. By day she’s an ordinary job seeker on the front lines of employment, and by night she’s a commanding indie band vocalist named Soo.

Lee Jung Shin as Moon Tae Kyung: a warm, affectionate pediatrician. He brought out the charm of an all-around man with a gentle tone of voice. Fans may know Lee Jung Shin from CNBLUE.

Why It Sounds Fun?

The setup combines several fan-favourite tropes:

• Rich, cold boss meets bright underdog: a pairing that’s rarely failed in K-dramas.
• A double life: Eun Chae’s day-job hustle against her stage persona adds contrast.
• A voice as the hook: the “find the person behind the voice” premise gives the romance a fairytale pull.
• A possible third corner: a gentle pediatrician is just the kind of character who could complicate things, though Soompi doesn’t confirm a love triangle.
