Guarding Stars Netflix Release Date: Jared Padalecki and Leighton Meester’s Fake-Dating Holiday Rom-Com

Fake dating, a bodyguard and a ranch full of family drama. Guarding Stars is Netflix’s cosiest holiday bet this year, and the date is locked.

Guarding Stars: Overview

What’s the Story?

Padalecki plays Jack Stapleton, a famous action star who has retreated to his family’s Montana ranch after a scandal and a tragedy. Meester plays Hannah Brooks, the straight-laced bodyguard hired when a stalker starts threatening him.

There’s a catch: Jack doesn’t want his ailing mother to know about the danger. So Hannah has to pose as his girlfriend. Cue close quarters, warm family chaos and a client who might be more than a client, as What’s on Netflix details.

Good to Know

• New title: the film was formerly called The Bodyguard.
• New setting: the novel is set in Texas, but the movie moves to Montana.
• Familiar faces: Padalecki is best known for Supernatural and Walker, and Meester for Gossip Girl.
• Filming: it began in Calgary on December 4, 2025, and wrapped by February 17, 2026.
