The last weekend of July has arrived, and streaming platforms aren’t holding back. From a chaotic rom-com to a psychological period drama and an animated Batman comeback, here’s everything worth queuing up before Monday hits.
Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai — ZEE5
Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, and Mrunal Thakur’s massy entertainer finally lands on ZEE5 on July 31, weeks after its June 5 theatrical release. Directed by David Dhawan, the film follows Jass, a young man whose marriage to a corporate CEO unravels over clashing views on starting a family. Expect the director’s signature loud comedy, a stacked ensemble cast, and the kind of guilt-free, popcorn-friendly chaos his films are known for.
Batman: Caped Crusader — Season 2 (Prime Video)
Gotham’s darkest detective is back. Season 2 of the acclaimed animated series dropped on Prime Video on July 31, pulling Batman into a fresh set of mysteries and dangerous new villains stalking the city. Backed by heavyweight producers and known for its noir-tinged visual style, this season promises to lean even further into the moody, detective-driven tone that set the first season apart from typical superhero fare.
Rao Bahadur — Netflix
Satyadev’s ambitious psychological drama makes its streaming debut on Netflix on July 31, arriving in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. Directed by Venkatesh Maha, the film is set between 1968 and 1991 and follows Ramappa Rao Bahadur, a terminally ill aristocrat consumed by suspicion, legacy, and the slow unraveling of a fading dynasty. Blending magical realism with dark comedy and suspense, it’s a slow-burn character study rather than a conventional thriller — and critics have praised its bold visual language since its theatrical run.
Balan: The Boy — Streaming Now
This Malayalam psychological drama, led by newcomer talent and helmed with an eerie, atmospheric touch, continues its digital rollout this weekend. It centers on quiet emotional unraveling rather than jump scares, favoring mood and tension over spectacle — a solid pick if you want something slower and more introspective to close out the weekend.

What ties this weekend’s lineup together is variety — a broad, mainstream comedy sitting right next to layered psychological dramas and a stylish superhero revival. It’s proof that OTT platforms are increasingly betting on genre diversity rather than chasing a single trend, a shift that mirrors the growth of streaming media as the dominant way audiences now consume film and television worldwide.
Whichever title you pick, this weekend’s lineup covers nearly every mood — light-hearted romance, brooding mystery, and introspective drama alike.
