Walking Dead City S3E4: The Ring, The Road Trip, and That Earthquake

Just when Manhattan started feeling like home, the ground literally cracked open. The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3, Episode 4, titled “Found/Lost,” aired August 16 and delivered one of the show’s most personal — and most chaotic — hours yet.

The episode opens with Maggie and Luis leaving Manhattan on a supply run after the hospital’s resources run critically low. Their journey leads them to a mysterious figure known only as the Trader, with Maggie offering methane tank blueprints in exchange for badly needed medical supplies.

A Slower, More Personal Hour

Much of the episode leans into quiet, character-driven moments rather than action. Maggie and Luis open up about their pre-apocalypse lives — including Luis’s late wife, Marisol — while bonding over small, human rituals like playing an airplane game and a round of Jenga at the Trader’s cabin. It’s a deliberate pause that pushes Maggie toward reconsidering what life beyond survival could look like.

Back in Manhattan: Chaos Builds

While Maggie and Luis are away, Negan and Renata work to fortify the growing settlement. Dillard’s unsettling bond with Titicaca, the chained walker he believes he can communicate with, continues simmering in the background — a mystery still unresolved heading into future episodes.

The Ending That Changes Everything

Just as Maggie and Luis return to Manhattan, a massive earthquake strikes, destroying several buildings — including the community’s pantry — and tearing furrows through the streets. While searching for walkers amid the chaos, Maggie drops Glenn’s ring and nearly gets bitten before Negan pulls her to safety. With the food supply gone, the community now faces its biggest test yet heading into Episode 5.

Dead City draws from the world of The Walking Dead, the long-running zombie franchise, continuing to explore Maggie and Negan’s uneasy path toward rebuilding after years defined by loss and conflict.
