The footballer ventured to his home state club, Gokulam Kerala, in the 2016-17 season before making a return to Calcutta, donning the iconic red and gold jersey of East Bengal. However, the following season saw him don the colors of the arch-rival Mohun Bagan, in the 2019-20 season where he displayed resilience and skill on the field. The transition to the Indian Super League (ISL) led him to North East United Football Club, in the 2020-21 season marking a new chapter in his career.

Despite returning to East Bengal for almost three seasons, Suhair found limited opportunities, featuring in only two matches this season without finding the back of the net. Seeking a fresh start and more playing time, he decided to make a move in the winter transfer window, landing in Jamshedpur FC’s camp.

VP Suhair’s versatility on the field makes him a valuable asset for Jamshedpur FC, capable of making an impact in various positions. Beyond being a second striker, adept at setting up goals for the main attacker, Suhair brings the added dimension of attacking prowess on both wings. At 31, this right-footed footballer adds a wealth of experience to the team’s roster.

East Bengal Making Changes to The Team Roster

Meanwhile, over at East Bengal, strategic decisions are reshaping the squad. The recent signing of Spanish right-wing half, Iago Falque Silva, has stirred discussions. The management’s dissatisfaction with Severio Toro’s performance has led to the decision to release him after the Super Cup, making room for the incoming Silva.

In the quest to strengthen the squad, East Bengal eyes Hyderabad FC’s Nikhil Pujari, currently in the national team. However, acquiring him comes with a hefty transfer fee. Despite Coach Carles Cuadrat’s initial desire for four or five new players in the January transfer window, budget constraints may limit the number of additions.

Recent discussions between the board and Emami, the team’s main sponsor, have emphasized the need for changes. The inclusion of reserve team players in the Super Cup lineup indicates a strategic move to assess talent before the second phase of the Indian Super League (ISL). Among the newly registered players are Karelian striker Jason Tick and midfielder Tanmoy Das, while midfielder Mobashir Rahman has been released on loan to Chennaiyin FC.

Cleiton Silva’s double strike propelled Emami East Bengal FC to a spirited 3-2 victory over Hyderabad FC, marking the commencement of their Kalinga Super Cup football campaign at Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Stadium on 12th January, Tuesday. In the Group A clash, Hyderabad FC managed to equalize twice, with goals from Ramhlunchhunga and Nim Dorjee Tamang, but Saul Crespo’s decisive strike in the 80th minute secured the triumph for East Bengal.
