Two of Korea’s most beloved young actors may be joining forces for a film that’s already got fans emotional before a single frame has been shot. Viva La Vida (working title) is shaping up to be one of the most poignant Korean films in recent memory — and the casting buzz alone is enough to stop the scroll.
What Is Viva La Vida About?
Based on the beloved Chinese film of the same name, Viva La Vida tells the story of two strangers, both living with terminal illnesses, who meet by chance and form an unlikely partnership. Together they navigate the time they have left, finding meaning, connection, and ultimately, true love. It’s the kind of story that quietly breaks your heart while putting it back together.

Why This Pairing Has Everyone Excited
Lee Do Hyun has proven time and again that he can carry emotionally heavy material with effortless nuance. Kim Min Ha, equally compelling, brings a raw authenticity to every role she takes on. Together, they have the potential to make Viva La Vida something genuinely unforgettable.
Director Park Dan Hee brings serious credentials to the project, having previously helmed Weak Hero Class 1 and Tastefully Yours, with the upcoming Love In Disguise also on her résumé. She clearly understands how to balance quiet emotion with gripping storytelling.
Korean adaptations of Chinese films have a strong track record of finding their own identity — a tradition well documented in the history of film adaptation, where source material becomes a springboard rather than a constraint.
