VisionQuest's Hidden "Countdown to Doom" Clue

Sometimes the best Marvel secrets are hiding in plain sight. While VisionQuest has felt like a standalone story so far, sharp-eyed fans spotted a tiny prop in Episode 2 that quietly ties it to the MCU’s biggest event yet.

The Easter Egg You Might Have Missed

In Episode 2, the A.I. Avengers study footage of bounty hunter Paladin (Todd Stashwick) inside Ultron’s upstairs apartment in Vision’s Mind Space. A close-up reveals a DVD or CD case labeled “Countdown to Doom.” It looks like a wink at Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, who arrives in Avengers: Doomsday this December.

Two Ways to Read It

The meta nod: The Mind Space holds recordings of past MCU stories, so this could be Ultron’s copy of the Doomsday countdown stream Marvel has been running on YouTube since January.

The darker meaning: Ultron’s screens show war and human conflict. His “doom” may refer to humanity destroying itself, which fits his worldview perfectly.

Will Vision Show Up in Doomsday?

Right now, the signs are thin. Paul Bettany has called VisionQuest a “really exciting springboard” for his MCU future, which hints at a return, but most likely in Avengers: Secret Wars rather than Doomsday.

There’s a fun theory behind that. The Russo Brothers have teased that Doom is collecting more MCU characters after the Hulk. Vision could be taken off the board in Doomsday and then re-enter the fight in Secret Wars.

Then there’s the family angle. Joe Locke’s Billy (Wiccan) may return in Doomsday, and Ruaridh Mollica’s Tommy could follow, possibly as part of a Young Avengers team after the twins reunite in VisionQuest.

With the finale landing just over a month before the movie, each weekly episode feels like a real countdown. Whether this egg is a genuine setup or just a cheeky joke, it’s the first sign the show and the movie share a pulse.
