Marvel fans who loved WandaVision but wished the episodes were longer are in luck. A new festival listing shows that VisionQuest will open with the longest two-episode premiere in the WandaVision trilogy. Here are the details.
VisionQuest : Overview
| Detail | Info |
|---|---|
| Streaming dates | Weekly, October 14 to November 25 (Disney+) |
| Premiere format | First two episodes on day one |
| Early screening | October 12 at the London Film Festival (BFI) |
| Episodes 1 and 2 runtime | 97 minutes combined |
| Average per episode | 48.5 minutes |
| Total episodes | 8 |
The 97-Minute Record
The British Film Institute will screen the first two episodes at the London Film Festival on Monday, October 12, two days before the Disney+ release, and its event listing confirmed the 97-minute total. That is the longest opening for the trilogy so far. Whether Disney+ counts credits in that number has not been clarified.
How It Compares?
| Show | First two episodes | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| VisionQuest | 97 min | Credits unclear |
| WandaVision | 71 min | About 51 min without credits |
| Agatha All Along | 87 min with credits | 77 min without |
| Hawkeye | 104 min | About 90 min without credits |
| Daredevil: Born Again S1 | 110 min | About 100 min without credits |
VisionQuest is therefore 26 minutes longer than WandaVision‘s opening, though it does not beat the MCU-wide record, which belongs to Daredevil: Born Again. Depending on how long its credits run, it could end up close to Hawkeye‘s premiere, as newer Marvel shows tend to have shorter credits than in 2021.
Why Longer Episodes Matter?
Fans of WandaVision and Agatha All Along often said both would have benefited from more time to develop supporting characters and explore their magic. Longer runtimes should help VisionQuest spend time on its sci-fi ideas and revisit characters not seen in years. If all eight episodes matched the 48.5-minute average, the series would run about 7 hours 28 minutes. That would beat both earlier shows by more than an hour, despite having one fewer episode, and make it the second-longest MCU series on Disney+, behind Daredevil: Born Again.
A Different Style Each Week
Showrunner Terry Matalas has said each episode is “very different,” like separate kinds of movies. That echoes the way WandaVision changed styles through the decades, though VisionQuest is unlikely to be as dramatic a shift each week. Either way, viewers should expect surprises.
The Caveat
The BFI listing only confirms the first two episodes. The remaining six could run shorter, with the premiere using extra time to set up this new corner of the MCU, so the full-series total is speculation. For background on where the story began, see WandaVision on Wikipedia.
