She once handed a teenager control of Stark Industries’ satellites and drones. Now she’s a cheerful, costume-changing companion living inside Vision’s head. When VisionQuest arrives on Disney+ on October 14, EDITH will look and act very different.

What Changed?
According to Disney’s official production profile, EDITH has been reprogrammed as a persona that exists in Vision’s head. Crucially, she no longer has access to Stark Industries’ satellite network and drone arsenal. That’s a huge shift from the version Tony Stark left Peter Parker, which was dangerous precisely because of that access.

She also takes human form for the first time, played by Emily Hampshire. The acronym, which stands for “Even Dead I’m the Hero,” now describes someone built for fun. Hampshire calls her “part cheerleader, part AI, part malfunctioning theme park ride.” She pushes Vision to live rather than just observe, and has a glitch that makes her want to help too much.
Her Fashion Statement?
EDITH has 21 distinct costumes, the most of any character in the series. Costume designer Sarah Young drew on Amelia Earhart, World War II female pilots, Formula One branding and vintage aviation, reimagined for Vision’s “Mindspace” setting. A consistent colour palette keeps her instantly recognisable through rapid outfit changes.
A Crowd of AIs
EDITH isn’t alone in Vision’s mind. JARVIS, FRIDAY and even Ultron appear as human-shaped consultants, each with a distinct personality, helping Vision untangle his past and understand the world.
What It Means for Peter Parker?
EDITH was Tony Stark’s gift to Peter after his death in Avengers: Endgame, one of the last tangible links between mentor and protégé. Since Spider-Man: No Way Home, she’s been offline. Spider-Man: Brand New Day then introduced EV, a simpler AI Peter built himself, voiced by Naomi Watts.
The Direct’s take is that reprogramming EDITH further cuts Peter’s ties to Tony, helping him become his own hero and shedding the “Iron Boy Jr.” baggage some fans complain about. It’s also a storytelling choice: a personality-rich EDITH makes a better character than a bland AI, and keeping her original link to Peter would force Spider-Man into a show about Vision and Tony’s legacy.
What to Watch For?
Look for how EDITH interacts with Vision, and whether any nod to Peter or Tony survives the reprogramming. The series premieres October 14.
