Viral Video Indian 188 Year Old Man
A video purportedly shows the finding of an unidentified 188-year-old Indian guy who was discovered living in a cave. This myth is making the rounds on the internet. In the video, young men could be seen using a walking stick to assist a thin, extremely elderly man as he attempted to walk.
For instance, on October 3, the video was preserved and shared by X user @BGatesIsaPyscho to their following of almost 620,000 people with the remark, “This Indian man was just discovered in a cave.” He is said to be 188 years old. Crazy.” The post gained almost 16 million views in just 12 hours, and 24,000 likes.
The same video was posted by other users on X along with comparable captions in Turkish or Arabic. An individual’s post (archived) elaborated on the story, stating, “An Indian rescue team accidentally found a caveman who claimed himself to be 188 [years] old.” The post did not earn many likes. Is that really true? When officials learned the age of a man who was unintentionally discovered in an Indian cave, they were astounded. He is currently being treated at a hospital.”
In actuality, though, the film did not depict the 188-year-old man that the rescuers or anybody else discovered in a cave. Although we were unable to pinpoint his precise age, we did discover information indicating that, as of 2024, the man—who was named Siyaram Baba in reports by the Indian fact-checkers at D-Intent Data (archived)—was approximately 110 years old. It’s possible that the rumor came from the On Zero Facebook page. That account housed the first post (archived) we located that displayed both the video and fake caption.
Viral Video Indian: Siyaram Baba Is Said to Be 110 Years Old
The individual in the video was identified as Siyaram Baba, as per an article from the archived Hindi-language publication Navbharat Times. The definitions of “baba” given by Wisdom Library and Dictionary.com include “holy man,” “spiritual leader,” “saint,” and more.
In July 2, 2024, the article stated that Siyaram Baba’s age was estimated to be 109 or 110 years old, not 188. A portion of the Hindi to English Google translation read as follows:
The saint Siyaram Baba resides at Bhatyan Ashram, which located on the banks of the Narmada River in the Madhya Pradesh district of Khargone. Although his exact age is unknown, it is estimated that he is between 109 and 110 years old. About his age, there are differing opinions in the neighborhood.
As a result, nobody is aware of his true age. In fact, some claim that Baba is 130 years old. Baba did not, however, provide any details on his age.
It’s stated about Baba that he never changes out of his loincloth, even in extremely cold or pouring rain. He has learned to adapt his physique to the weather through meditation. He cooks his own dinner and does all of the labor himself, even at this age. Baba didn’t say anything for around a dozen years.
According to a December 2022 article on the Hindi-language website Satyaagrah.com, Siyaram Baba was 110 years old. He was also said to be 110 years old in a video uploaded to the Argus Digital YouTube channel in November 2023. The station is linked to the news organization Argus News, which covers the Indian state of Odisha.
Additionally, it seemed that someone posting on the Instagram profile with the handle @siyaram_baba00 frequently posted pictures and videos of Siyaram Baba. The account had almost 248,000 followers.
The page featured a video that presented a different perspective of the same scene as the widely shared footage, which falsely stated that he had lived for 188 years. That video was uploaded on September 25 by the page manager.
We sent a message to the management of the account to request proof of Siyaram Baba’s age and his birthdate. If we hear back, we’ll update this article.
Oldest Individuals Ever Credibly Documented
Later, in response to their own tweet, the user @BGatesIsaPsycho said, “I’m embarrassed that I ever typed 188. Anything more than 120 would have been absurd.
Jiroemon Kimura of Japan, who passed away in 2013 at the age of 116 years and 54 days, was the oldest man ever acknowledged by Guinness World Records, according to The Associated Press. In the meantime, Jeanne Louise Calment of France, who passed away in 1997 at the age of 122 years and 164 days, was the oldest woman ever listed by Guinness.
