Vinicius Jr. Camp Refutes Real Madrid Renewal Talks Amid Mega €30 Million Demand

Just days after reports swirled suggesting Vinicius Jr. was nearing a contract extension at Real Madrid, the situation has taken a dramatic twist. Despite suggestions of an imminent agreement, the winger’s representatives have publicly refuted any advanced discussions with the Spanish giants.

As tension brews between the two parties, a staggering contract demand from the Brazilian’s camp has thrown negotiations into murky waters. Meanwhile, Real Madrid is also navigating a critical decision regarding Xabi Alonso’s future, with Bayer Leverkusen setting a clear deadline for the European champions.

Contradictory Claims on Renewal Status

While initial reports this week painted an optimistic picture, claiming Vinicius was set to extend his contract until 2029 or even 2030, a new update by Mario Cortegana of The Athletic has dismantled that narrative. According to the report, the Brazilian’s representatives are adamant that talks are far from advanced.

In stark contrast, Real Madrid maintains that negotiations have been ongoing for a while and that a conclusion is within reach. But Vinicius’ camp firmly disputes this, asserting: “There are no advanced talks over the topic.”

Salary Stand-Off: From Modest Increments to Mega Demands

At the heart of the impasse lies a significant financial chasm. Real Madrid reportedly offered the 24-year-old attacker an annual salary between €15-20 million. This figure, although already close to his current €17 million compensation (bonuses included), was turned down.

Following the rejection, the Madrid-based outfit asked Vinicius and his agents to outline their expectations. The response was clear—and bold.

Aiming for History: Vinicius Wants Record-Breaking Package

Vinicius Jr., who has emerged as one of the most electrifying talents in world football, is seeking a deal worthy of his on-field impact and global marketability. As per The Athletic’s report, he is aiming for a package that rivals the most lucrative ever offered by Real Madrid—akin to Cristiano Ronaldo’s historic deal.

Breaking down his expectations, Vinicius is demanding a comprehensive package worth €30 million per year, including:

• Base salary
• Performance-related bonuses
• A one-time renewal bonus

Such a figure would place him among the highest-paid footballers globally and undoubtedly test the club’s wage structure, especially at a time when they are looking to remain financially balanced.

Real Madrid Hesitant, No New Talks Since February

The Galacticos, for their part, made it clear during a meeting in February that matching such a financial commitment would be extremely difficult. Since then, there has been radio silence—at least officially. Although Vinicius’ agents were spotted in Madrid during the club’s Champions League encounter with Arsenal, no formal negotiations were held.

According to sources close to the player: “The ball remains in Real Madrid’s court.”

The player’s entourage is confident that delaying a new offer could work in their favor, considering Vinicius’ current contract runs until 2027. With every passing month, the Brazilian’s leverage could grow—particularly if his performances continue to soar and he avoids long-term injury.

Leverkusen Pushes Madrid for Alonso Decision

While the Vinicius saga unfolds, Real Madrid is juggling another major strategic decision. Bayer Leverkusen has reportedly set a firm deadline for Los Blancos regarding Xabi Alonso’s potential appointment. With an “agreement” between Alonso and Real Madrid believed to be in place, the Bundesliga club wants clarity sooner rather than later to plan for the upcoming season.

The German outfit, fresh off a remarkable domestic campaign, is unwilling to be left in the lurch and wants to begin succession planning in earnest.
