Ustaad Bhagat Singh has turned out to be one of the most disappointing Telugu releases of 2026, and the numbers make for some very uncomfortable reading.

The film could add just Rs. 3 crore to the tally in its second weekend, registering a sharp decline from the opening weekend, bringing its 11-day total to Rs. 73 crore gross in India.

The opening day of ₹35.50 crore looked promising on the surface, but the collapse from Day 2 onwards tells the real story — audiences walked out disappointed and word-of-mouth simply didn’t recover.

The Most Embarrassing Part of the Failure

The embarrassing part for the Pawan Kalyan starrer is that it couldn’t stand a chance against its rival release Dhurandhar: The Revenge even in its own territory — the Ranveer Singh starrer dominated the Telugu box office from its first Monday onwards despite releasing on limited screens.

Being outperformed in your home market by a Hindi film on limited screens is about as damaging as a box office result can be for a Telugu mass entertainer.

Why Did the Film Fail?

The audience outrightly rejected it as it failed to impress with its quality of content. Despite the star power of Pawan Kalyan, the energetic presence of Sreeleela, and the mass-action direction of Harish Shankar — who previously delivered hits — the film clearly couldn’t deliver on its promise to core Telugu fans.
