As autumn approaches, tech enthusiasts around the world are gearing up for Apple’s highly anticipated fall special event, set to take place on September 12. The event, dubbed “Wonderlust,” promises to unveil a range of exciting new products, but as always, Apple manages to keep most of the details under wraps until the big day arrives.

Wonderlust: Apple Event Details and Expectations

Apple’s September event has become an annual tradition, serving as a launchpad for some of the company’s most significant and profitable products. Held in anticipation of the holiday shopping season, this event is a critical moment for Apple to introduce new innovations and capture consumers’ attention.

This year’s event will be available for viewing online, starting at 10:00 AM Pacific Time and 1:00 PM Eastern Time. The event will be accessible through Apple’s Events page and the Apple TV app.

The intriguing title “Wonderlust” suggests a sense of adventure and exploration, and the unique Apple logo featuring swirling blue and yellow particles adds to the enigma surrounding the event’s offerings.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are expected to headline the event as the non-Pro models of the iPhone lineup. While major design shifts are not anticipated, these models could feature the A16 chip seen in the previous iPhone 14 Pro lineup. A slimmer bezel is rumored, potentially leading to a more edge-to-edge display.

One notable change could be the adoption of the Dynamic Island display from the Pro models, which would replace the infamous notch with a more seamless design. The rear cameras might receive an upgrade with a 48-megapixel wide-angle sensor and lens combination. Additionally, there’s speculation about a transition from the Lightning to a USB-C port.

iPhone 15 Pro and Beyond

The iPhone 15 Pro and its larger counterpart, whether named the Pro Max or possibly the Ultra, are likely to offer more advanced features. The design might feature rounded edges and a titanium body for reduced weight. Rumors suggest that the proximity sensor could move to the Dynamic Island area, enhancing the display’s aesthetics.

Inside, the A17 chip manufactured using TSMC’s 3-nanometer process is expected to deliver significant performance improvements. The camera system could include a periscope lens arrangement, enhancing optical zoom capabilities. A unique “Action Button” might replace the mute switch, offering versatile functions.

Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra

The Apple Watch Series 9 is anticipated to come with improvements in the S9 chip’s performance. On the other hand, the Apple Watch Ultra could also make an appearance, although specific details are scarce. Both devices are expected to offer incremental upgrades, with the Ultra possibly showcasing the enhanced chip performance.

iPad Lineup

Apple often introduces new iPad models during its fall events. While details remain sparse, rumors suggest an updated iPad mini 7 might be in the works, although a 2024 release is also plausible. The iPad Pro may not see major changes due to the expected launch of an OLED iPad Pro in 2024.

Other Possible Announcements

If Apple decides to hold a follow-up event in October, it’s likely that Mac updates and the Apple Vision Pro could take center stage. The transition to the M3 generation of chips for entry-level Mac models could be introduced, along with upgrades to existing models like the 13-inch MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and the 24-inch iMac. The Apple Vision Pro, a highly anticipated headset, could receive an update before its planned early 2024 release.
