Unchosen Netflix Series April 2026: Asa Butterfield’s Cult Thriller Is the Show You Can’t Miss This Spring

If you love psychological thrillers that blur the line between saviour and predator, Unchosen might just be your next Netflix obsession. Mark your calendars — this gripping new series drops on April 21, 2026.

What Is Unchosen About?

Unchosen follows Rosie, a woman living inside a cloistered Christian sect with her husband Adam and daughter. When an escaped prisoner named Sam stumbles into her world, the cracks in her marriage — and her community — begin to show. The real question the show poses: is the greater danger the cult she was raised in, or the mysterious criminal offering her a way out?

It’s the kind of story that keeps you second-guessing everyone on screen. Created and written by Julie Gearey and directed by Jim Loach (Criminal Record), the series promises tightly wound tension across its six ~50-minute episodes.

The ensemble is genuinely exciting. Molly Windsor (Three Girls) leads as Rosie, with Asa Butterfield (Sex Education) as her husband Adam and Fra Fee (Hawkeye) as the dangerous Sam. Why Unchosen Could Be a Big Hit

The cult-thriller genre has a proven appetite on streaming platforms, and Unchosen ticks every box — a morally complex female lead, a claustrophobic religious setting, and a cast that brings serious dramatic credibility. It feels less like a procedural and more like a slow-burn character study where every episode will leave you with more questions than answers.
