UEFA are planning to shift the finals of Euro 2020 to Budapest from London, due to the quarantine restrictions in the English capital. Wembley Stadium was originally planned to be the host to the final on July 11, and the British government ministers are now in negotiations to make sure that it stays that way.

In an attempt to keep UEFA from changing the venue, the UK is planning to allow 2,500 officials from UEFA and FIFA to enter the country for the finals. They will also exempt these people from the mandatory 10-day quarantine rule put in place by the government for all people travelling into the country.

This rule was the reason why London missed out on the Champions League final, and it was moved to Porto instead. The original final was set to be held in Istanbul, but due to the massive outbreak of coronavirus cases in Turkey, the venue had to be switched.

Budapest will not have any travel restrictions from next week, and VIPs from UEFA and FIFA will be allowed to travel freely. Talks are underway, and a decision will have to be made soon regarding the location of the final which is coming in under a month.

The Puskas Arena in Hungary is the only stadium in the competition to operate at full capacity right now. Every other stadium hosting the Euros has reduced it’s capacity to a fraction of what it can be, including Wembley.
