It’s hard to watch a film with real promise stumble so badly at the box office. Tu Yaa Main, the creature-survival thriller that marked Shanaya Kapoor’s big Bollywood debut alongside the talented Adarsh Gourav, has had a deeply underwhelming theatrical run. By Day 6 (Wednesday), the film managed to collect an estimated Rs. 35 lakh — a number that tells a rather grim story.

Tu Yaa Main Box Office Collection — Day-by-Day Breakdown

Day	Net Collection
Friday (Day 1)	Rs. 60 lakh
Saturday (Day 2)	Rs. 1.50 crore
Sunday (Day 3)	Rs. 80 lakh
Monday (Day 4)	Rs. 40 lakh
Tuesday (Day 5)	Rs. 45 lakh
Wednesday (Day 6)	Rs. 35 lakh (est.)
6-Day Total	Rs. 4.10 crore

The film’s projected first-week finish stands at Rs. 4.35–4.50 crore, with a lifetime total of around Rs. 5 crore nett — a genuinely disappointing outcome for what was clearly a passion project.

Why Did Tu Yaa Main Fail at the Box Office?

Directed by Bejoy Nambiar — known for Wazir and Taish — the film follows a young couple fighting for survival against a deadly creature. On paper, the premise sounded fresh for Bollywood. In practice, a few things worked against it.

First, the film carried a remake tag, which often makes Indian audiences hesitant. Second, there was a near-total lack of audience awareness — the marketing push simply didn’t create the buzz needed to draw walk-in crowds. Third, it opened alongside competition that chipped away at its potential audience base.

The genre of creature horror films historically struggles at the Indian box office unless backed by blockbuster-level marketing or an established star. Adarsh Gourav, despite his acclaimed work in The White Tiger, hasn’t yet crossed over into mainstream mass-audience territory in Hindi cinema. And for Shanaya Kapoor, this debut couldn’t have gone more differently from what her family legacy might have promised.

With new releases Do Deewane Seher Mein and Assi arriving in Week 2, Tu Yaa Main has virtually no path to survival in theatres. Its digital release will likely be its best shot at finding the audience it deserved.
